Honing/Polishing Magnets

Other than obviously changing the air gap, does honing or polishing ceramic magnets have any effect on motor performance?

Polishing the magnets makes them shiny. Won't do anything to performance. Honing, as it removes material, will change the absolute strength of the magnet. This could have good or bad effects on performance, but in any case not PREDICTABLE effects. I avoid honing unless there is no other way to get a legal size airgap.
