Has anyone heard any info about the release of Parma's new electronic controller. I'm anxious to see how it stacks up against the PM.

I just saw the prototype just the other day at The Slot Shop in Elyria, OH. Maybe I don't see enough variations of controllers or something but I was pretty ammzed by the technology involved. Lots of little Ic's in there and an amazing amount of high-tech soldering.
Extremely lightweight, it has the feel of the old Aurora H.O. Russkit-style controllers with a 'resistor' to match.
If you're of the Blessed and left-handed, you'll have to get used to the small switch protruding from the back of the handle. However, if you're between girlfriends and can situate your hand right, it'll get you through a lonely weekend.
I forget what was mentioned as a release date but I was also surprised that it is on the emminent horizon.

That's what I've heard as well. Was wondering if there were any updates. You know how things change with new releases.

Well, thing is. I run many different types of cars. From a bare bones stock Caddy LMP to V-12 powered high magnet cars on 13.6v. So, I'm looking for versatility. If the Parma turns out to be a turd (which I doubt), then I'll definitely pick up a PM. If the Parma is a winner, then it will be a real tough call.
for stock nonmagnetic toys
or switch controller to 35 for $10 additional
for all around use
or order 35 installed with ninco plug
from FW n cut off plug for only $5 more
personally preferr havin 25 n 45 here

.....buy 1 Prof. Motor for less than $50 and run all homeset toys? Get controllers for both lanes at home for the price of one?
Prof. Motor has just revamped his lineup of controllers, with new features and better performance. I'm anxious to check out some of the new controllers.

Well, you both have vaild points there. But, it looks like my decision has been made for me. Nothing, at least for now. You see, last night while I was attending my first night at the Chubb Institute my car was stolen. And, if it weren't bad enough to have the car that I've spent countless hours and dollars modifing. I was preparing a few cars for a proxy race so, I had my slot box in the car as well. Nine cars, countless parts and tools all gone. Even if the police recover what is left of my car (I'm positive that it was stolen for the racing parts that I have on it), I'm sure that the slot box and it's contents will have been either discarded or destroyed in an even more bizarre act of vandalism. I can't express how beat down and hollow I feel right now.

Let us know what happens, and if there is anything we can do.

Wow, that really sucks!
Maybe it will be recovered. Sometimes you get lucky! A friend of mine had his car stolen with his R/C and slot stuff in it. It was recovered. The car was shot out, but all the R/C and slot stuff was intact!

But if I can help in one way or another just ask LS, I even can loan cars or parts if available. My stuff may not fit your needs but might be fun to try out. Hope things are not destroyed but recovered for your piece of mind.
Guess one should always go places in beater cars, no one wants to steal but what fun is that.

Give me some type of mail address and I'll send you a car
( keep it ) so you at least have something to run. I dont have a spare controller now, but will as soon as I get my new Difalco.

Thanks for the support and offers to send out cars. That's an incredibly generous thing to do. I couldn't accept though. But, I am very grateful.
I'm being positive about getting my car and slot-box back. But, I'm also being realistic about it, and not getting my hopes up too much.
BTW, just picked up a real beater.

Just talked to Paul C. at the Hobby Show in Chicago... The new controller (technically a mosfet transistor system like Difalco/ruddick/third eye/ slotworks) will be availible from the distributors shortly in TWO versions: 1) with tuning knobs for those of us who HAVE to twist them.<$100. 2) no knobs for simplicity and homeset needs for<?$60. Both PM and Parma electronic systems are polarity sensitive - if you use your reversing switch on the HO or 1/32 track a lot you may not be totally happy, BUT PM offers a very simple kit to switch polarity of all of the PM diode controllers. A similar fix should work on the parma, I know difalco also has a switch kit.
My main concern is how repairable can surface mount parts be if you cannot ID them for repair. Things always can break..........

Here is a picture of the new Parma electronic Controller with all the bells and whistles for $99.00. The plain one will be $79.00 bucks with out the adjustments for the brakes and sensitivity mainly. You can see the plug in type fuse, you can quickly replace instead of taking it apart like some in the past. I will be trying one when available. My Ruddock is now going on 6 years old with out any real problems except mine, by blowing fuses stupidly hooking it up wrong.

Larry, Lee Gilbert will install circuit breakers in place of the fuses for $25, I think. I had him do this to my Ruddock and love it. You can hook it up wrong and nothing happens. Give it a few moments to rest and you're good to go.
Takes the worry out of being stupid . . . at least, with a controller!
